A few years after graduating from Berkeley, Celeste leaves a troubled past behind and takes a one-year position with the Polar Institute as a researcher studying polar bears in a remote cabin, alone, on the north slope of Alaska. But midway through the year, in the polar nights, she encounters an unexpected visitor that forces her to face her inner struggles, while she is desperately trying to save a severely malnourished polar bear. But, who is he and where did he come from? Is it too late for the bear? Is it too late for Celeste?
