After assuming her new role as vice-captain of the Dark Knights, Jun Karentia found herself up against the most significant challenge she had encountered yet: attending the annual performance meeting. What's more, every expedition force worth their salt would be there, including her former comrades in the Fabian Corps.

In addition to this burdensome pressure haunting her thoughts, Jun's attempts at quashing rumors of her supposed illicit love affair with her captain, Mayer Knox, have been for naught. They have continued to spread like wildfire, reaching as far as the capital. When mysterious bruises start appearing on her body after helping Mayer with his nightly training, the gossip only worsens.

As she navigates the political landscape of the meeting, Jun must also confront the ghosts of her past and come face to face with the one who left her behind. Will Jun be able to overcome these obstacles and fulfill her duties as vice-captain, or will her past and present collide in unexpected ways?
