Loos has made a name for himself as one of the most important artists working in the medium of the woodcut in German-speaking countries, and now in his dissertation he has undertaken the daring and fascinating project to investigate the theoretical and conceptual basis of his own work both in terms of its philosophical implications and from the perspective of media theory. Creation and reflection go hand in hand. Here the artist is following in a venerable - though in the past decades largely forgotten - tradition of the poeta doctus, a learned artist.
