Die Bildwerke" (the images) this volume is the second part of the final reports on excavations undertaken in the late Hittite fortress of Karatepe in Cilicia. It combines three essays on architecture (the fortress and palace), ceramics (Iron Age) and on small discoveries and coins (from the Hellenistic to the Modern Period). The famous reliefs and inscriptions of Karatepe are placed within their archaeological context for the first time and the similarities and differences to Anatolian, north Syrian and Levantine parallels discussed. The volume will serve as a reference work for architectural historians, archaeologists and numismatists studying the Iron Age cultures of the Near East. German description: Nach "Karatepe - Aslantas. Er vereint drei Aufsatze zur Architektur (Festung und Palast), zur Keramik (eisenzeitlich) und zu Klein- und Munzfunden (hellenistisch bis neuzeitlich).
