There are things that can make you doubt. There are others that can make you suspect and sow discontent. But there are some that are fatal for Christianity, and there comes a time when you cannot ignore them.

In these memoirs, I describe how key aspects of my life led me to find those fatal things—after many years of discovery, struggle, and study. I think I found them because my curiosity brought me to them, but without a doubt, I think there was also an element of providential intervention.
