Description

Okalani and Teal is a children's picture book focusing on two main characters; Teal the turtle and Okalani the oyster. Readers are taken on a journey with Teal who has made it his mission to help others who may feel how he once felt - different and alone. Teal discovers Okalani, an insecure oyster who refuses to open up and share her gifts with the world. After Teal encourages her with his kind words, Okalani agrees to be brave and open her shell, not only to reveal her true self with the world, but also a magnificent pearl that she created herself. Teal and Okalani become friends and attract even more company simply by coming out of their shells and being true themselves.

Okalani and Teal is designed to help children realise the importance of embracing who they are to succeed and in particular, to help others with their own struggles, too. The story is told through attractive, colourful illustrations and lyrical rhyme throughout.
