Description

Policing and mediating between humans and off-world vampires is hard enough; harder due to the Renfields' hybrid vampire/human bloodline. With both sides of their lineage leery of them, Ramona and the Renfields Investigations and Enforcement Division still keep the supernatural/human conflict in check in 1920s New York City.

As daughter to head of the Clan, Ramona is poised to advance to the highest levels of power, but things begin to unravel. An incident at one of the Renfield salons leaves 3 dead. Then a robbery at one of their clubs results in multiple injuries. Ramona's judgment is questioned and rumors suggesting that nepotism fueled her rise to the position of Deputy Director are whispered.

She is further debased when over her objection, a new member is hired onto her team. Nabil Aziz though smart, irreverent, and proficient has burned every bridge in his life and is desperate to prove himself even if it means undermining Ramona in the process. Can Ramona set aside her disdain for her new colleague and search for clues to discover how and why someone is creating monsters in New York City that are targeting Renfields?
