Well-known liberation theologian Fr. Miguel D'Escoto seeks to recover Christianity's tradition of nonviolence while considering imperialism's impact on Nicaragua. Referencing Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and Tolstoy, he criticizes George Bush's warmongering and manipulation of religion for political ends. Miguel D'Escoto was Nicaragua's foreign minister in the Sandinista government in the 1980s and is currently the President of the United Nations General Assembly.
