Anchorage control acts as the cornerstone of the orthodontic force system. Anchorage is provided by the teeth that resist the forces of reaction generated by the active components of the appliance. So, any unwanted tooth movement must be controlled; otherwise, the underlying malocclusion will worsen during tooth alignment and to overcome this problem, skeletal anchorage has been increasingly popularised into orthodontic treatment.
