Pamela believes that her enchanted hair, a gift in exchange for her mother's kindness, is nothing more than a venerated curse. When the envy and greed it attracts causes discord at Fort Daverna, her guardian has no choice but to move her somewhere else. Lagartho's direct, no-nonsense attitude fits her idea of the perfect bodyguard, yet it is this same characteristic that makes him difficult to approach.
