English summary: Is religious education as a manifestation of religion still relevant in today's schools? Would ethics studies, religious studies or a more inclusive religious education for Christian, Jewish, Muslim and students of other religions be a better alternative to the existing model of religious learning in schools when considering Article 7 III GG? Is the dictum to teach the beliefs of various religions as existing but at the same time competing truths still timely? Against the background of this thematic field, this volume contributes to the profile of future research requirements, theory and practice of Islamic religious education as a proper subject for public schools. It incorporates the social discourse on the role of religion in public schools and studied actions of religious education in the scholastic environment, thus taking part in the discussion about the role of religion in the context of religious education in German school settings.
