
Arabic Dialogues explores the motivations of historical Arabic learners and the effectiveness of the instructional materials they used. It analyses a corpus of phrasebooks published in nine languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian) over the period of the nineteenth century and into the early twentieth century.
