Delving into her astonishing collection of postcards, Marie-France
Motrot brings back to life two different worlds which
lie at the very heart of the Breton character : those of the sea and
the land. From Cancale to Audierne, from Roscoff to Josselin, both
maritime and agricultural activities are described with the clear
purpose of emphasising facts and events of days gone by, and of
presenting traditions which have disappeared and crafts which
have passed away and been forgotten.
Deriving from her work on the crafts of old Brittany, the author
has chosen the authenticity of original photographs to take us on
a journey through the economic and social life of Brittany at the
turn of the XXth century.
