Instead, Alexander spent his life as a low-paid clerk on the Caribbean Island of St. Croix. And without an important Founding Father, the revolution of the Americans against the British failed. The country which Alexander Hamilton called "not...perfect in every part, [but], upon the whole, a good one" was never created.
