Julien Saudubray studeerde in 2012 af aan de Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Parijs en heeft sindsdien tentoongesteld in België, Frankrijk, Italië en Engeland.

Deze jonge kunstenaar excelleert in het experiment. Een synthese van zijn schilderkunst is na enkele omzwervingen nu uitgemond in een praktijk die hij zelf 'mechanistisch' noemt. Tussen abstract en figuratief in, blijft hij werken aan beelden die waaraan hij steeds lagen en kleuren toevoegt, maar ook wegneemt, waarna het subjectieve tot een minimum wordt herleid. Zelf zegt hij hierover: 'Bij elke penseelstreek twijfel ik tussen opwinding en verveling, terwijl ik mezelf al schilderend observeer, als een absurde machine geprogrammeerd volgens de Beckettiaanse formule "To miss more, to miss better".'

Samen met galerie Waldburger Wouters vond Uitgeverij Snoeck het tijd voor een eerste overzicht van zijn werk, in een boek met een uitdagende vormgeving. Een artist's book, but not only. Met teksten van Louma Salamé, directrice van de Fondation Boghossian, en van Claire Leblanc, directrice van het Museum van Elsene.

This young artist excels in experimenting. After a few detours, a synthesis of his painting has now developed into a practice that he calls mechanistic. Between abstract and figurative, he continues to work on images, constantly adding layers and colours while at the same time also removing them, with the subjective being reduced to a minimum. As he says: 'With each brushstroke I hesitate between excitement and boredom as I observe myself while painting as an absurd machine programmed according to the Beckettian formula "To miss more, to miss better".'

Together with gallery Waldburger Wouters, Uitgeverij Snoeck found the time for a first overview of his work in a book with a challenging design. An artist's book, but not only. With texts by Louma Salamé, director of the Fondation Boghossian and by Claire Leblanc, director of the Elsene Museum
