I once met a girl. I met a girl beneath noon as it rose to its highest in the sky above me. My life has now changed because of this girl.

The one I can't stop thinking about.

Where has she come from?

Where is she going?

Who is this nameless wild beauty with skin kissed by the moonlight?

Aubrey-

Sometimes at night when the moon is swollen, bright, and high above the earth, I wonder if anyone is as unlucky as me. I never thought I would find myself alone living between trees and water at eighteen. I've learned to adapt to my surroundings this last year, rounding another birthday to solitude.

To survive.

But I'm alive.

Here, no one knows I exist.

Nobody is looking for me.

I've been on the run all this time, and nobody has thought of looking for me here, living in the deepest parts of the wet bayou land. Here, beneath the moon and starry sky at night and overgrown green foliage by day, I'm camouflaged in worn, dark clothing that are way too small for my height.

At least in the nowhere land, I have food. I kill if I am hungry. I drink captured rainwater that I've managed to collect for when I am thirsty. I also bathe my body in the minnow-infested bayou water to keep clean.

I am free.

But I'm alone.

Am I scared? Who wouldn't be?

That's until I spot the inky-black-haired guy one day as I hide between trees.
