Life is good for Evangeline Moon, very good. With a job she adores, a beloved cat, a charming home with its own ghostly quirks, and a budding romance - how does it get any better than this?

At the Highmark Hotel in Harding City, she is about to report on a mayoral conference. It would have been a rather boring affair if not for the fact that the mayor of a nearby town is in attendance.

That mayor is none other than her good friend Darcy Sweet!

Just as the conference is about to start however, a shocking discovery is made: a man in a gray suit lies motionless on the stage, his lifeless gaze fixed on the rafters, blood on the side of his head.

Eva's heart sinks.
