Description

This is a book of poems and drawings, both of which were influenced by the natural environment. There are 30 poems paired with a suite of 30 drawings. However, the poems do not explain the drawings, and the drawings are not intended to be seen as illustrations of the poems. They are companion pieces which hopefully complement each other and add to the whole experience of reading and viewing. Although the drawings are based on the forms and forces of nature, they are also a study in the interaction of lines. Many of the drawings have just two or three lines. Only a very few have more than six lines. The number of lines is small but their complexity is extraordinary. The original poems and drawings as well as the typeface in this book were created by Jim Bennett. The intent is the book in its totality will provide a unique esthetic experience.
