Description

This is a work about the ancestors of the Hudson Clan, who immigrated to America from Britain in the early 1700s. They settled in the low country of South Carolina, near a swamp called the Salkehatchie. The story chronicles the tales of the family before they immigrated. The reader will share their hardships and successes in the ole country. Their relationships to others under similar circumstances, how they rose above all adversities to survive, and rise to great heights will entertain those of modern times.
The story is an imaginary dialog of Homey, a slave talking to his master, Isham Hudson. While other parts of this chronicle are fictional, Isham is a documented ancestor of the author as verified by Ancestry.com and DNA samples. Ancestry.com shows that Isham owned one slave, on which he paid seventy-five cents per year taxes in the early 1700s. The author draws heavily on Wikipedia.com and other sources for the validation of historical time-periods and events.
The name Homey, not a slave, was an actual black man who worked for my grandfather in the late 1940s. I thought it appropriate to give the name to the fictitious Homey in this writing. The description of Homey is as close as I remember, and some of the anecdotes come from the gentle old man.
The imaginary Homey possesses clairvoyant abilities, which allow him to see the journey of Isham Hudson's fictional ancestors from around 500 AD. Each section of the narrative progresses to a different era in the Hudson evolutionary travel, until around 1725, when Amy Hudson, Isham's mother migrates to America.
The parts that follow, discuss the Hudsons during the approximate historical time-periods: Part One -500, Part Two -1300, Part Three -1500, and Part Four -1700. The periods are approximate and some parts may overlap.
