Kant's comments in his personal interleaved copy of the Beobachtungen uber das Gefuhl des Schonen und Erhabenen (Observations on the Feeling of the Beautiful and Sublime) are probably his most personal notes. They are part of the handwritten literary remains which were published first and in addition to numerous anthropological reflections also contain important preliminary drafts of Kants critical ethics. For the first time, this volume of indexes provides accurate insight into the range of the topics dealt with in the notes. In addition, the index on the Observations on the Feeling of the Beatiful and Sublime included in the volume makes it possible to compare the language of the two text corpora and thus to draw conclusions about Kant's language development, and thus also about the time it took to write the Observations. Thus this index volume also provides criteria for the tiresome question pertaining to determining the date of Kants literary remains as a whole. Kants Bemerkungen in seinem durchschossenen Handexemplar der Beobachtungen uber das Gefuhl des Schonen und Erhabenen sind die wohl privatesten Aufzeichnungen Kants. Sie gehoren zu den am fruhesten veroffentlichten Teilen seines handschriftlichen Nachlasses und enthalten neben zahlreichen anthropologischen Reflexionen wichtige Vorentwurfe zu Kants kritischer Ethik. Der vorliegende Indexband gestattet erstmals exakte Einblicke in die Bandbreite der in jenen Notizen enthaltenen Themenstellungen. Daruber hinaus erlaubt der dem Band beigefugte Index zu den Beobachtungen uber das Gefuhl des Schonen und Erhabenen, das Sprachgut der beiden Textcorpora miteinander zu vergleichen und Ruckschlusse auf Kants Sprachentwicklung - und damit auch auf die Abfassungszeit der Bemerkungen - zu ziehen. Eben damit liefert der Indexband zugleich auch Massstabe fur die leidige Frage nach der Datierung von Kants Nachlass als ganzem.
