Depuis 1991, le FRAC Centre rassemble dans une même collection art contemporain et architecture de recherche des années 1950 à aujourd'hui.
L'architecture y est présente dans sa dimension critique, son pouvoir d'anticipation et d'utopie. La collection du FRAC Centre s'est orientée autour des procédures innovantes d'expérimentation de l'espace construit en réunissant oeuvres d'artistes et projets d'architectes autour de la notion de « projet », où dessins et maquettes d'architecture peuvent rencontrer les phases exploratoires de la démarche artistique.
En consacrant un ouvrage à un architecte ou un artiste de sa collection, le FRAC Centre, avec les Éditions HYX, développe un travail scientifique d'analyse des oeuvres qui présente au public l'ensemble d'une démarche ou d'un projet architectural.
Since 1991, the FRAC Centre has been bringing together, in a single collection, contemporary art and architectural research from 1950 to the present day.
In this collection, architecture can be found in its critical dimension, in its capacity to anticipate and utopia. In bringing together artists and architects to work on a common notion of « project », the FRAC Centre collection focuses on innovative processes for experimenting with constructed space, where architectural drawings and models can meet with the exploratory phase of the artistic process.
In recognition of the achievements of the architects and artists in their collection, the FRAC Centre and Editions HYX promote their projects through public presentation and the publication of scientific and analytic works.
