In Landscapology is voor het eerst een systematische grondslag geformuleerd voor het relatief nieuwe vakgebied van landschapsarchitectuur. De beschreven systematiek kan een rol gaan spelen in een meer professionele uitwisseling van kennis. Centraal staat het fenomeen van de op landschappen en landschapsarchitectuur gebaseerde stedenbouw, het 'landscape urbanism'. De actuele ontwerpbenadering wordt ontrafeld aan de hand van zes cases, verschillend in schaal en soort. Voor alle betrokken vakgebieden van stedenbouw, architectuur, civiele techniek, planologie, ontwikkeling en bestuur kan deze publicatie als een basiswerk worden gezien. De auteurs zijn zowel in de praktijk als in het internationale circuit van het hoger onderwijs werkzaam.

In Landscapology, the first systematic foundation has been formulated for the relatively new field of landscape architecture. This system could play a role in the further professionalisation of knowledge exchange. A key aspect is ‘landscape urbanism’, the phenomenon of urban development based on landscapes and landscape architecture. The current design approach is unravelled using six test cases, all of which differ in scale and type. This publication can be seen as a foundation work for every discipline involved: urban development, architecture, civil engineering, urban and rural planning, development and governance. Both authors are active in the field and in international higher education.
