Description
"My Double Bass" by Ödön Racz impresses with the strengths and versatility of the instrument and takes listeners on a musical journey from Italy to Latin America and back again. Starting point of the journey is the "Gran Duo concertante" by the Italian contra-bassist and composer Giovanni Bottesini. Racz is accompanied by Noah Bendix-Balgley, Concertmaster of the Berliner Philharmoniker. Rácz has a close cooperation with Bendix-Balgley; Both musicians got to know each other in the Philharmonix ensemble. The journey continues with the "Le Grand Tango" by Argentine founder of Tango Nuevo, Astor Piazzolla. One last stop is the "Divertimento concertante" by the legendary film composer Nino Rota, who received an Oscar in 1975. Rácz is accompanied by the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Speranza Scappucci; The Rome-born maestro is General Music Director of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège, Belgium.
