The two short story collections are Bayou Folk (1894) and A Night in Acadie (1897). Kate Chopin is a frequently read and recognized writer of Louisana Creole heritage. She was considered by some to be a leading author of her time. Some scholars believe that she was a forerunner of American 20th century feminist authors.
